What to Look for when Touring Homes

Touring homes to purchase is one of the most fun parts of the homebuying process. It’s the excitement of picturing yourself in a new home and dreaming of what life would and could be like in that house. Our team loves opening doors for new buyers and walking them through this excitement. So here are some tips on what to look for when you tour a house:

  1. Check the neighborhood – drive there in the morning, during the day and at night. Are people out and about? Does it feel safe? How are the neighbors?

  2. Check to make sure all the toilets work, the showers/tubs, kitchen sinks, etc.

  3. Turn on the A/C and/or heat to make sure that works efficiently

  4. Check the age of the hot water heater and HVAC units

  5. Look for any water spots on the ceilings

  6. Check for any cracks in the walls or on the exterior
