Let me start with a caveat, not all real estate agents are equal. Some are better than others so I’m going to answer how a good real estate agent can help you sell your home.

First and foremost, the knowledge a real estate agent has of the market can not be understated. Knowing what buyers are looking for, where prices are headed, how to properly prepare your home for sale, knowing which photographers show off your home the best, etc...are all invaluable to you in selling your home that, frankly, you do not have since you do not live in the real estate world every day just like I would not have your knowledge of your profession.

Second, marketing is much enhanced with a real estate agent. Not only can the agent put your home on the MLS where most shoppers look, but they can also maximize your exposure around the world. With buyers often moving in from other parts of the country it’s important to not just have a local reach. My team, for example, puts every home for sale that we have on over 350 search engines and 70,000+ websites. If someone wants to find it, it’s out there.

 

Third, a good real estate agent has the skill of negotiating which will keep thousands of dollars in your pocket. From knowing how to navigate a purchase contract to negotiating home repairs to knowing the right contractors to use, a good agent’s skill of negotiating will keep lots of money in your pocket.

Ultimately, a good real estate agent knows how to effectively navigate the real estate market, knows how to properly get eyes on your home through marketing and has the ability to negotiate and keep more money in your pocket.
